Bollards can either be a stationary protective barrier or they can be installed with hydraulics to rise quickly from the ground to stop a moving vehicle. Simple bollards are often found protecting pedestrians and buildings in retail centers and entertainment venues and other places where high vehicle traffic matched with a large number of people can become confusing for motorists. High tech security bollards are often installed at places where fleeing vehicles may pose a problem or where intense, heightened security in an instant is needed.
